TVS Supply Chain sets up warehouse in Chennai to support Caterpillar India

TVS Supply Chain Solutions has strengthened the global supply chain operations of Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd by setting up a 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse at a Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in Mannur village, around 30 km from Chennai.

The facility will enable multi-country sourcing of components and support Caterpillar’s manufacturing operations by streamlining global parts procurement, according to the exchange filing.

Strategically located along the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, the warehouse benefits from strong connectivity to the ports of Chennai, Ennore and Kamarajar, which together handle nearly 20% of India’s container traffic.

With about 4,000 pallet positions, the modern facility is expected to help Caterpillar optimise lead times, reduce landed costs and respond more efficiently to fluctuations in global demand and supply.

The development also aligns with the government’s “Make in India for the World” push, positioning Caterpillar’s India operations as a key node in its global supply chain network, stated the exchange filing.

Ravi Viswanathan, Managing Director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, said the FTWZ-based solution would strengthen supply chain resilience amid global trade volatility by enabling faster and more efficient cross-border movement of goods.

Ramesh Muthuraman, Director of Operations at Caterpillar India, added that the facility enhances sourcing flexibility and helps the company manage complex multi-country supply chains more effectively.

Shares of TVS Supply Chain Solutions ended marginally lower on Tuesday, March 10, by 0.65% at 106.00 on the NSE.
