Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Nifty index has fallen below the 24,950 mark, trading with a decline of about 150 points. The Sensex index is falling towards the 81,500 mark, with the index falling by over 450 points. SBI Life, HCL Tech, Hero Motocorp, and Adani Ports are among the major losers.
When we look at the broader markets, the all-important Nifty Bank is down 500 points. The small-cap and midcap indices are in focus, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index under pressure; however, the indices are currently trading with limited movement of under 0.1%.
Some of the biggest volume movers amongst the Nifty 500 stocks include Finolex Cables, PTC Industries, Aditya Birla Fashion, Swan Energy and Zee Entertainment among others.
Ramco Cements, Nava Industries, IDBI, Godfrey Philips are among of the biggest losers among the Nifty 500 stocks.
This comes at a time when sentiments around capital market stocks like BSE and Angel One took a hit after the SEBI chairman’s statements on increasing the tenure of derivative expiries. Both stocks are trading relatively muted.
