The four concepts – Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X – are scheduled to enter production from 2027, targeting both Indian and international markets, including left- and right-hand-drive territories. Designed at Mahindra’s studios in Mumbai and Banbury, UK, the models represent the next phase of the company’s HEARTCORE design philosophy, centred on the theme “Opposites Attract”.
“NU_IQ is a strategic blueprint for the future of Mahindra SUVs globally,” said R. Velusamy, President – Automotive Business (Designate) & Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd. “It gives us the flexibility to innovate across multiple body styles and powertrains, while staying true to our SUV DNA.”
The Vision.T is an electric, Thar-inspired off-roader with boxy proportions, exposed latches, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and all-terrain tyres. Designed for adventure, it embodies Mahindra’s “Born Iconic” spirit. The Vision.S is a muscular SUV in the mould of the Scorpio N, envisaged with hybrid or electric power. Its upright stance, bonnet scoops and commanding grille give it a look of “Sporty Solidity”.
Meanwhile, the Vision.SXT is a lifestyle pick-up with a clamshell bonnet, flared arches and an open truck bed, blending rugged utility with urban style. The Vision.X is a sculpted, family-oriented urban SUV with sleek lines, connected LED lighting and “Sculptural Athleticism”, hinting at a potential electric successor to the XUV700.
The NU_IQ architecture supports multiple powertrains – petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric – as well as front- or all-wheel drive, across varied SUV “top hats”. It promises command seating with superior driving dynamics, a spacious cabin with generous boot capacity, the industry’s first flat-floor ICE SUV layout, and more.
Pratap Bose, Chief Design & Creative Officer, described the NU_IQ SUVs as “emotional, expressive and globally relevant”, adding: “These concepts reimagine HEARTCORE design for a new future, creating experiences that inspire adventure, confidence and connection – anywhere in the world.”
Mahindra’s new strategy positions it to target untapped “white spaces” in the global SUV market, combining premium appeal with off-road capability. The NU_IQ platform will be produced at Mahindra’s Chakan plant, with an annual capacity of up to 1.2 lakh units.
With Vision 2027, Mahindra is signalling more than just a product launch cycle – it is laying the foundations for a global push in premium SUVs, underpinned by design innovation, flexible engineering and multi-market reach.
