KIMS raises stake in Sunshine Hospital to 75.53% with ₹148 crore investment

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Ltd (KIMS) has acquired an additional 6.94% equity stake in Sarvejana Healthcare Private Limited, also known as Sunshine Hospital, increasing its total holding to 75.53%, the company said on Friday, December 19.

In an exchange filing, the hospital chain said the acquisition was carried out through a secondary purchase in multiple tranches and was completed on December 19. The transaction involved a cash consideration of around ₹148.09 crore and was based on an independent valuation report.

Sarvejana Healthcare, a material subsidiary of KIMS, operates Sunshine Hospital in Hyderabad. The hospital reported a turnover of ₹597 crore in FY25, up from ₹464.2 crore in FY24 and ₹419.44 crore in FY23, reflecting steady growth over the past three years. The total paid-up equity share capital of the subsidiary stands at ₹36.52 crore.

KIMS said the acquisition does not fall under related party transactions and does not require any regulatory approvals. The company described the investment as a strategic move to deepen its stake in a core subsidiary.

Founded in 2009, Sunshine Hospital began as a specialised orthopaedic care centre and has since expanded into high-end healthcare services, including cardiology and transplant procedures. The hospital operates primarily out of Hyderabad, Telangana.

Following the transaction, KIMS’ stake in Sunshine Hospital has increased from 68.59% to 75.53%, strengthening its control over the subsidiary and aligning with its broader expansion strategy in the healthcare sector.

Shares of the company closed 0.58% up at ₹637.90 ahead of the announcement.
